How we got here
Such a Softy was created to make starting a business feel less overwhelming. We believe building something of your own shouldn't require dozens of tabs, conflicting advice and endless guesswork.
Like many first-time founders, we initially believed that a strong idea, a thoughtful product and beautiful branding were the foundations of a successful business. What we quickly discovered was everything that exists behind the brand — the registrations, finances, insurance, systems, software, documentation and countless decisions no one really prepares you for.
We learned through experience, including the unnecessary expenses, the wrong tools, the overlooked details and the hours spent searching for answers across dozens of different places.

Our first version was simply a pile of documents sorted into folders. People opened it, saw a wall of files and closed it. Help is knowing which document you need today — which is why a short set of questions and a plan now come before the library.

Outside Ontario, the operations and financial templates still work — the registration and employment rules won't, and we'd rather say so than sell you something that half-fits.
